The Married Members Records for Lower Wyke Moravians were kept for a period of about 60 years from the 1760's, with some death dates added later. Marriages would have taken place at the Parish Church at the place mentioned. (Wyke was in the Parish of Birstall). Religion refers to the denomination the couple practised before joining the Moravian Church. Several are marked with a word beginning with B... We have not been able to discovered what this means. It could denote "Brethren" meaning they were already members of the Moravian Church - but this is just a theory. Reception Date indicates when they joined the Moravian Church and Communion, the first time they took Communion and where The image of the first page shows how the entries were made. The early entries are much fuller than later ones. It is often difficult to work out whether the entry refers to the husband or the wife. Even though these records are often incomplete they give details which would otherwise have been impossible to find and we present them in the hope that will be useful to those with Moravian ancestors.
