These records come from an item at the Bradford office of the West Yorkshire Archives, ref LMI/19 and described as the "Forge Wage Book". It covers the period April 1916 to September 1917 and gives a snap shot of the men employed there, the sections of the forge they worked in and the wages they were paid.
Each page covers a 13 week period as follows
A - w/e April 1st to June 24th 1916
B - w/e June 31st to August 1916
C - w/e September to December 1916
D - w/e January to March 1917
E - w/e April to June 1917
F - w/e June to September 1917
The first column is headed with a section of the forge and underneath is a list of names. Then follows thirteen sets of columns headed "Turns" "Price" and "£-s-d ". We presume that "Turns" refers to the number of hours worked, "Price" the amount paid per hour and "£-s-d" the pounds shillings and pence total. We have only transcribed the first column of names and the sections they worked in. Sometimes only an initial is given and at others times the full first name. He have not made any presumptions and list the names as given.
