Shelf Pepperhill Unitarian :: Baptisms

The Baptism register seems to start in 1862 and the earlier entries appear to have been copied from elsewhere. There is a long gap in the register between 1867 and 1890. The Chapel accounts book refers to three baptisms for children with the surnames Jagger, Johnson and Bateman which took place in Spring 1867, but these do not appear to be in the baptism register. Three baptisms which took place in May 1888 appear to have been entered into the book in 1903 so there could be many more missing baptisms for that period. In some cases the occupations of both father and mother are recorded. The records are held by the trustees and we are grateful for their permission to access and transcribe the registers.
